Hobbies/Extracurricular Activities: Tinkering with just about anything mechanical. Getting her hands on the newest models of cars and just having free reign over what she can do to it makes her have hearts in her eyes. When she's not taking things apart and figuring out how they work, she also occasionally enjoys surfing.

Brief History: Winry Rockbell was born in Seal Beach, California to a pair of doctors. Both studied medicine with the intention of helping people in poor foreign countries. Her parents had spent their time in high school volunteering just everywhere they could. They were praised for their humanitarian attitudes and after high school went straight on to college and medical school. Her parents spent much of her childhood in foreign countries giving people who couldn't afford proper medical care. In 2001, they headed to the Middle East. Within the months following their arrival they'd settled in Afghanistan to help with both the injured American soldiers and the injured native people.

The last Winry had heard from them was a short phone call on her thirteenth birthday. Her grandmother took great care to keep news about the war going on from Winry. A few months later when the elderly woman received word of her son and daughter-in-law's death she had no idea how to break it to the young girl. It wouldn't do well to keep it from her and soon after Winry found out that she was now an orphan. Her grandmother quickly went through the paperwork to officially adopt her to keep the young teen from being shipped around to other relatives.

All things considered, the years between the death of her parents and her graduation from high school went quite well. She had good friends and she got good grades. She didn't rebel like the psychiatrist had warned her grandmother she might. She was hurt but she knew that acting out and causing stress for her grandmother would only make things worse. When she graduated for high school in the top ten percent of her class she was told by just about everyone to head anywhere in the country to whichever high ranked undergrad medical school she wanted to go to.

Winry, however, decided to head up the coast to San Francisco. Now in her second year at Mishima University, she'd give anything to switch from a medical student to studying any kind of engineering, though studying prosthetic limbs has appeased her engineering bug a bit. Unfortunately, not only would she prefer not to disappoint her grandmother by switching majors (even though it was her grandmother that showed her how enjoyable engines and automotives were), her scholarships depended on her remaining a pre-med major.

Personality: Winry's one of those people that loves life, despite what's happened in hers-- or maybe because of it. She understands that life doesn't always go the way you want it to, but if you just sit around being pessimistic nothing good is ever going to happen.

She's a very loving and sweet girl, as long as you don't get on her bad side. She can have a bit of a bad temper and people should watch out when/if they get her bad because she just might have a wrench in her hand to attack them with.

She's easily obsessed with things which is obvious from her absolute love and utter devotion to mechanics. She loves the things she's built like their her children and she takes such pride in her work. She strives to continue her grandmother's work in prosthetics, an interest she gained when she helped her grandmother come up with a way to create lighter and more resilient prosthetics.
